PAP Test (every 3 years)

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the leading cause of cervical cancer. Screening can help catch HPV infections before they become cancer.

  • Almost 100% of cervical cancer cases are caused by HPV

  • 3 out of 4 women will get the HPV virus at some point in their lives.

There are usually no signs or symptoms.

Cervical cancer screening (PAP test)  is recommended every 3 years for all women who:

  • Are age 21 and older

  • Have ever been sexually active

The above Pap tests are covered by OHIP. Please ask your doctor for more information, or visit www.ontario.ca/page/cervical-cancer-screening-and-prevention.
